School Lunches

In order to meet our wish for your children to develop a ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ and to recognise the importance of healthy eating habits, they can either bring a nutritious packed lunch or have a cooked school lunch. Sample menus and details of booking lunches are available from the School Office.

As you may be aware the government has brought in Universal Free School Meals which means that currently children in Reception, Year 1 & 2 are entitled to a free school meal.  However, the school would still like to know about children who are entitled to free school lunches because of benefits that you receive. The reason for this is that the school receives special funding known as pupil premium for every child who is entitled to and claims for free school meals. For advice please either go online via http://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/free-school-meals or ask the School Office.

Please don’t forget breakfast, even if time is short, as this has been proved to improve concentration and well-being for ALL!!

Milk is provided free on application for all children under the age of 5. It is also available to the remaining pupils at a nominal cost. Please contact www.coolmilk.com for details. All pupils in Foundation and KS1 are offered free fruit at morning break time. KS2 pupils are allowed tofruit bring in fresh fruit or vegetables ONLY to eat at break time.
Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day. Please send plain water only in a named ‘sports top’ bottle (to prevent spillage) with your child EVERY day.
