Our School

Welcome to The Anthony Roper Primary School

The Anthony Roper Primary School is a popular village school situated in Eynsford on the outskirts of Dartford in Kent. It is bigger than other primary schools and caters for 315 boys and girls between the ages of four and eleven years in mixed age and ability classes.

The school derives its name from Anthony Roper, Lord of the Manor of Farningham who died in 1597. He left a legacy for “charitable purposes” for the benefit of the people of Eynsford, Farningham, Crockenhill and Horton Kirby. It later came to be called “Roper’s Charity”. Anthony’s father married Sir Thomas More’s daughter, Margaret. Anthony Roper inherited Farningham Manor on the death of his father. Anthony Roper’s name was chosen for the school as a suitable link between the two communities which it mainly serves. The school badge incorporates a stag’s head which is part of the Roper family coat of arms.

Our recent Ofsted inspection says:

“This is a school of which pupils, parents and carers, staff and the governing body are rightly very proud.”

Our school motto is

“Learning to Work Together, Working Together to Learn.”
