ARPS entered two strong teams again this year, the B team drawn in a pool along with Leigh, Otford and Sevenoaks Primary.
ARPS B’s got off to a great start running in 8 tries against Otford who replied with 2 of their own. The second game was against a very strong Leigh side who put ARPS under pressure from the start. Leigh edging out 8-6 winners. In order to make it to the next round, it was a must win game against Sevenoaks Primary. A very closely contested game saw ARPS edging a 6-5 win.
Through to the quarter finals and a very well drilled Lady Boswell side where both teams played some fantastic rugby. The match ending in a 6-6 draw. ARPS had scored 3 more tries in the pool matches and therefore through to the Semi Finals.
The A team were drawn in a pool alongside Churchill, Leigh and Amherst.
ARPS A’s got off to a fantastic start against Churchill, running in 12 unanswered tries. Leigh posed a stronger challenge, holding ARPS to a draw in the first half but ARPS then got the bit between their teeth and ran out 9-3 winners. It was a similar contest against Amherst, a close first half but ARPS controlling the second to win 8-5. Through to the quarter finals and a match against Borough Green. A very close game edging one way then the other with both teams playing some great rugby. The game ending in an 8-8 tie, ARPS had scored 13 more tries than Borough Green in the pool stage and therefore through to the Semi Finals.
A very interesting Semi-Final with both ARPS teams facing each other. A very close first half with the A team taking a one try advantage into half time. The A’s forced a few errors from the B’s in the second half and took full advantage and wrapped the game up with a 7-4 win.
ARPS A’s through to the final against Leigh. Again a very closely contested first half ending in a 4-4 tie, ARPS again forcing errors from the opposition, again taking full advantage with ball in hand and running out 9-6 winners. Title retained!
